OK, it's not some nationally known magazine, but it's our internal publication at the hospital called, "Inside AnMed Health". It's distributed to about 4,000 people, so I'm a proud mama! She's also on the inside of the publication. To see the whole thing you can go to http://www.anmed.com/body.cfm?id=1309

Halloween Treat
I had to make a special snack for MacKenzie and Mason's class this week for their Halloween party. I got this recipe to make "spiders". It was really easy, and they are really cute!
The recipe calls for peanut butter but since they have kids with peanut allergies, I couldn't use it...so I substituted funfetti icing instead. You just take Ritz crackers and put the funfetti icing in the middle and then use pretzel sticks for the eight legs. Then, use raisins for the eyes. And tada...you have a spider!

What Were We Thinking?!!
No, we didn't let our children take an entire bag of flour and spread it all over our kitchen floor. Instead, I got the bright idea that we really needed to regrout our kitchen. The people who owned the house before we did tried to "patch" up the grout and didn't do a very good job. So, we thought we could do it and make it look better. And eventually...it will...but it's been back-breaking, exhausting work. We've done nothing but clean tile for the past 3 days. We were up to 12:30 at night one night...and I thought I was going to die the next day!! We're making progress but it's slow. We still have some work ahead of us, but here's the before and after pictures so far.

"G" is for grapes...
...and grape juice, and giraffe, and glasses, and guitar!
We've started having home group on Wednesday nights so we had to start doing homework on Tuesday. It's a good thing, since MacKenzie is sick today. Even in these pictures you can tell she wasn't feeling herself last night! Hopefully, she'll get to back to school tomorrow so she can be a part of the homework day. Apparently sharing your homework with everyone is a BIG DEAL for a 3 years old! :)

Home for the Day
MacKenzie and I are spending a day at home today. She started running a fever and vomiting about 10:30 last night and threw up 2 more times by this morning. Needless to say, we didn't go to school or work today. She tossed and turned all night, but finally about 7:30 she fell back asleep and we both slept until 9:45!! That's the latest I've slept in YEARS!! So, we've just laid around most of the day. We did run a quick errand, and that completely wiped her out and she's been sleeping for over an hour now. I hate to see either of my children sick, so please pray that this will be a quick little bug.

We Survived the Corn Maze!
Today, we had a wonderful family day at the Denver Downs corn maze and pumpkin patch. There were SO many things for the kids to do. We got there right when they opened at 1:00 and didn't leave until 4:00! We ran, played, slid, and jumped in the hay. We saw goats, sheep, baby pigs, and a donkey. We enjoyed the hay ride and went to pumpkin patch. Finally, we went through the corn maze and found all 12 numbers...maybe not in order, but we did find them all! It was so much fun! I'm not sure who had more fun the kids or me and Jarrod!! I highly recommend it for anyone young or old!! What a great fall day!

Prayers for J-Rod!
Please pray for Jarrod over the next few weeks. He has been having a lot of pain on the left side of his belly for over a month now. In December 2007 he had some similar pain, but much worse, and that ended up sending us to a long, lovely visit to the ER. After many test, they couldn't figure out what was wrong with him and sent him home with pain meds. After a few weeks the pain went away, and we pretty much forgot about it.
A few weeks ago the pain came back, but this time not quite as bad. However, it just won't go away. He finally went to his family doctor who put him through a serious of tests. After the tests came back he sent us to a surgeon, because he thought it was his gall bladder. The surgeon looked at everything and said it did NOT sound like gall bladder and he wouldn't be doing surgery. Then today he saw the gastroenterologist who thinks he has Diverticulitis. Jarrod has to be on a round of antibiotics, but on November 6th he has to have a colonscopy to check everything out. Oh what fun, we've heard that will be! Hopefully that test will confirm the diagnosis.
Please pray that everything comes back normal and he starts feeling better.
