A Great & Simple Weekend

Have you ever had one of those weekends where you didn't do anything extraordinary or spectacular but it ended up being one of those weekends that you just love? Well, that's how my weekend was. It was simple, relaxing, and all-in-all fun.

Friday, we went to see my sister in Greenville and went to dinner with her and her boyfriend at Red Robin. When we got there we ran into Carrie, Chad, & Caleb & Carrie's parents. It was so random! Carrie and I live about 3 miles apart from each other now in Anderson yet we see each other in Greenville! After dinner we went to Mr. Knickerbockers where we bought our "pre-season" paraphernalia.

On Saturday, we got up and took the kids to "Kid Venture" at the Anderson Civic Center. It's just a giant playground, but it was great fun for the kids. They climbed, swang, ran, jumped, went down the slides, and just had a good time...and it was FREE! Then we went to Chic-fil-A for lunch. My dad and Susan (aka Mimi & Poppi) stopped by the house for a little while and just hung out with us. Then Jarrod cooked some great steaks for dinner, and we just hung out and watched the Olympics and of course, NASCAR! That was a great race for all those race fans out there! (Yes, I'm a redneck, I know...but I really do love it)!

Sunday we got up and went to church and listened to an absolutely AMAZING message! It made me cry, but it made me feel good, too. The message was all about keeping (or finding) faith and hope during bad or hard times. It was just powerful! For anyone who is going through a difficult time, or anyone who has gone through hard times, and for all of us who will at some point in our life go through bad times...it's a message for everyone! If you ever have about 45 minutes to listen to it, I highly recommend listening to it. It can be downloaded from the NewSpring website at www.newspring.cc. This message just reminds me how awesome God is...He's always in control and always there even when we're going through difficult times.

After church, MacKenzie and I went with Brooke O'Neal to Melanie Grooms' baby shower. It was so much fun to be around old Mauldin girls! Melanie is a cute little pregnant girl! We laughed so hard that we almost cried at times! And MacKenzie was loving all the attention. It was fun to watch her interact with some of my friends. She also pooped in the potty while there, and Susie Watson did the potty dance for MacKenzie which she though was hilarious!

When we got home we had some good dinner and then just had good family time. We watched the kids play with their new t-ball and bat and play soccer. They actually played pretty well with each other as they're both learning to "share". Mason still doesn't quite get it, but he's trying. Then, they just goofed off and danced to some oldies and Jimmy Buffet! It was just funny...again there were times that I was laughing so hard I cried.
Here's MacKenzie showing off her best dance moves...she gets those from her Daddy!

Then it was bedtime, and both kids were just very sweet. MacKenzie kissed me good night told me she loved me and said "you're my best friend mommmy"! WOW! If that doesn't just give a mama cold chills, I don't know what will. Then Mason started crying after he had already been put down, so I went in and rocked him for a little while. It was just an awesome mommy-son moment that I can't even describe. He just laid there and fell asleep in my arms. I told him "I love you" and he mumbled back something unrecognizable, but only I could tell he was saying "love you", too. He is definitely "all boy", but then he has moments like that when he's all "mama's boy"!

It was a simple weekend, but nonetheless, and great one for me. The older I get the more I enjoy these simple things...
