My 2 Cents Worth

Since everyone else seems to have an opinion about the recent incidents that happened with Clemson football, I'll put in my two cents!

First, I hate what happened to Tommy Bowden as a person. I think he's a good Christian man, who ran a clean football program, and did a good job getting those guys to graduate. However, he was paid to win football games, and after 10 years, he just wasn't getting the job done. I think he did a good job, but I think it was time for Clemson and Tommy to part ways. I think he was a classy guy, and he left with class.

On the other hand, I think that they players need to keep their mouths shut about the whole situation. Some of the comments made by Cullen Harper (and his dad) and even C.J. Spiller are out of line. They need to shut up and play ball...that's what they have scholarships to do. Tommy gave them a huge opportunity to come and play football at a great school, and they should respect him now more than ever.

Second, I'm excited about Dabo Swinney. I think his press conference the other day was great, and I think he'll bring some excitement to the program, that's obviously been lacking for some time. He's starting some new traditions with the "Tiger Walk" and he seems to be a motivator and a real "players coach". I think his youth and excitement make it easy for the players to connect to him and want to play harder, tougher, and maybe (hopefully) better. As much as I would like to think he'll completely turn this season around, I'm not going to be disappointed if he doesn't. He's got his hands full and I think he has uphill battle ahead him. I'm not going to be one of "those fans" that boos him or the players if he makes a bad call or he doesn't win all the games. I think the players and coaches have heard enough negativity for one season. I hope that the "true" Clemson fans will support this team 100%. I'm pulling for them to get out of the "mess" they're in. I agree with something Dabo said in his press conference, we need to be sure that these Seniors leave Clemson feeling the same way they did when they entered Clemson. They need to feel like the decision they made 4 or 5 years ago was a good one.

I love Clemson University and I love Clemson football. My opinion about Clemson football hasn't changed since the beginning of the season (see my post called "I can't wait" from August). There's something special and unique about that little place we call "Tiger Town". I get cold chills every time "Tiger Rag" is played and those guys run down the hill at Death Valley. It's exciting, refreshing, and just plain fun! I'm looking forward to this Saturday. GO TIGERS!!!
